To us at Woodlawn Memorial Park, there’s no better way to feel like a community again than by being able to gather and attend events in person. It has been our tradition to hold events throughout the year to celebrate the lives of those who are no longer with us.
We hold events to celebrate mothers, fathers, veterans, and everyone in between. These events are not only meant to honour those who are laid to rest at Woodlawn, or any cemetery for that matter, but also to appreciate and honour the family members that we are lucky enough to have with us today.
We are happy to announce Woodlawn Memorial Park’s exciting return to in-person events this year!
We are starting slowly and have decided to start with only those events that can take place safely outside. We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable attending.
Currently, we are beginning to prepare for the following events:
- Mother’s Day: Kisses to Heaven (Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, at 7 pm)
- Father’s Day: Classic Car Night (Wednesday, June 15th, 2022 at 7 pm)
- Remembrance Day (Friday, November 11th, 2022 at 10:45 am)
- Blue Christmas (Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 7 pm)
All event dates are subject to change based on local guidelines and restrictions.
Our 2022 Event Kick-Off: Kisses To Heaven
The first event to kick off the year is Kisses To Heaven, also known as Mother’s Eve Service.
This service is a celebration of mothers everywhere, including mothers who are still with us. At this event, we thank and appreciate mothers for everything they do and we take the time to recognize how hard they work for their families.
Each year, our staff selects a flowering shrub, or single flower, to enhance our Mother’s Grove Garden. We ask that everyone attending write a letter, card, or note of love to their mother, telling them how special they are. As part of the celebration, we will place these notes in the ground near the roots of the plant.
We believe that our love seeps from the papers planted at the roots, helping the plants to grow stronger and more beautiful. Afterwards, we blow bubbles – these are our “kisses” to heaven.
It’s a lovely moment where we can all stop and reflect on everything our mothers have done for us.
Check out this video to watch a previous Mother’s Eve service, and join us on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 at 7 pm at Mother’s Grove by the Mausoleum.
This year’s event will also feature a performance by The Over Tones.
