At Woodlawn Memorial Park, we take pride in making sure our cemetery looks beautiful year-round. With semi-annual cleanups and regular maintenance from our dedicated staff, we work hard to make sure the park remains a peaceful place that you can come and reflect and visit family members who rest here.
In the spring, a lot of work goes into making the cemetery ready for summer and keeping the cemetery beautiful, safe and current. This year, our annual spring clean up takes place between April 27th -May 1st, 2020.
Lot Cleanup
We always ask our families to come in the weekend before the spring cleanup so they can remove any decorations they wish to keep. Once our clean up begins, all remaining decorations including artificial flowers, borders, ornaments, or any other decorations will be removed for disposal.
Cemetery-Wide Cleanup
In addition to cleaning up the individual lots, we do a cemetery-wide cleanup to keep the rest of the park well maintained. This cleanup includes many tasks, including:
- Sweeping the roads and clearing them of any debris
- Removing sticks, twigs and branches that have fallen off the trees over the winter
- Removing any leaves that were missed in the fall cleanup
- Aerating the grounds so the grass can get a fresh start for the new season
- Seeding new graves from the late fall, winter and early spring
- Pruning trees and shrubs
- Planting of the Angel Tree
- Cutting back the ornamental grasses that gave contrast to the snow over winter
We know how important it is for you to be able to express your love to your loved ones who rest at Woodlawn. Once spring cleanup has been completed, you are free to place seasonally-appropriate decorations on your loved ones’ lots. Our cemetery by-laws have specific regulations about what is permitted in certain blocks of the cemetery.
